Welcome to CFC

Director Sunao Yamada
As one of the new strategic research education bases that will be intensively promoted under the leadership of the president of Kyushu University, the Center for Future Chemistry was established in April 2005. The center aims to focus on the promotion of research and technological development to link the results of the 21st Century COE Program "Functional Innovation of Molecular Informatics" to industrial development. To create "environment-conscious future science and technology" and "recycling-based future industry," rather than pursuing conventional cosmetic reform of chemical engineering, we need to create chemical engineering that has no negative impact on the environment, modeled after ecosystems as a recycling-based reproduction system.
For that purpose, the center is intensively promoting basic research under the keywords of "environment," "information," "light," "nanotechnology," "biotechnology," and "energy" as well as translational research to utilize obtained new substances and technologies quickly for practical application and industrialization. The center also promotes social contribution such as business-academia collaboration, creation of new industries, and human resources development in cooperation with organizations in Asia and Fukuoka Prefecture. Therefore, we think it essential to build efficient and mutual trust-based relations between universities and industrial circles.
Two years have already passed since the establishment of the center. With enthusiastic support from industrial circles and extraordinary efforts by the teachers of the center, a series of significant achievements chemical engineering has been produced from the new Kyushu University Ito Campus.
Among the center's three elements - "education," "research," and "business-academia collaboration," the center will promote "business-academia collaboration" at the business-academia collaboration exchange center to be constructed in the vicinity of the campus from fiscal 2008. We will continue in our endeavors to contribute to society while strongly and flexibly leading future developments in chemical engineering. We appreciate your warm support of the center.
