Distinctive curriculum of this program

1. Research proposal

Students raise problems about the research agenda different from that of their own research field, and then summarize their research proposal for solving the problem and consideration of its expected result into a booklet. It will be presented during an oral examination and its evaluation and examination will be carried out by the faculty member. Furthermore, faculty other than their adviser (from other majors etc.) will be in charge of supervision and conduct a one-to-one discussion (multiple faculty guidance system).This can realize the implementation of tailor-made basic education according to the competence of each student and help to cultivate logical thinking, creative imagination, and holistic horizon to achieve the completion of this proposal.

2. Graduate student project

Doctoral student can plan research themes that lead to development of science for molecular systems and make an application to his/her adviser. Then the adviser will distribute research expenses to the foreign student according to the content of application so that the student can carry out the research with his own ideas. The results will be presented during the accomplishment debriefing meeting and receive inspection and advice at the same time.

3. Internationally collaborative advance course

Intensive courses conducted by leading researchers invited from abroad.

4. Industry-academia collaborative internship

Students can conduct a research in companies for a certain period (more than 30 hours), and moreover, receive guidance on patent writing, management education and so on.

5. International scientific English

Aiming for dramatic improvement of communication ability, presentation ability, debate and discussion ability, and paper writing ability in English, we will cultivate young talents able to truly express themselves in the international arena. In addition to the regular lessons in small classes, intensive courses and special seminars are also conducted.

6. Business Japanese and scientific and technical Japanese exercises

By utilizing Japanese education during the "Partnership Program to Develop Human Resources for Energy and Environmental Technology" by AQ Program Asia Human Resources Program of Kyushu University, the Japanese proficiency and Japanese communication ability of foreign students can be cultivated.

7. Global education using international network

Through the joint symposium, dispatch and exchange of students and young researchers between overseas excellent universities including the global top-class research center for molecular nanotechnology, such as California Nano-System Institute (CNSI/UCLA) in the US, the BK21 chemical center (Institute for NanoBio Molecular Assemblies) at Yonsei University in Korea, we can proceed global educational research and cultivate human resource able to succeed in the world.

8. Education on comprehensive expertise

We will implement "Advanced Life Science Course" as the intensive courses related to cutting-edge life science and "Biomolecule Analysis Exercise" as the lectures and exercises related to science for molecular systems by actually using analysis equipment. In addition, "Science and Technology Theory," "Energy Science," and "Environmental Science" have also been implemented as comprehensive elective courses.

9. Support system such as paper guidance

For the research aiming for the acquisition of doctor's degree, that is one of the major purposes of this program, foreign students belong to the laboratory of their intended expertise and work on the research program aiming for the acquisition of degree within the defined term of 3 years. For the selection of research themes, foreign students should start to discuss about the research contents with their future advisers as soon as their submission of application for this program, so as to be able to work on the research theme immediately from the beginning of the program.

10. Advance course on data science for molecular systems

Intensive courses and seminars on data science for molecular systems chemistry will be held.
